The Muscle Relief You NEED to know about!
As most of you know, I have been searching for the best ways to help painful horses for years now! By painful I not only include horses with injury or ailments, but the working athlete too!
Since I am refocusing solely on rehab versus rehab and additional veterinary medicine, I am constantly sourcing new technology to improve the daily lives of the horses I work on. Not only am I looking to improve the lives of the athletes I touch daily that are actively competing, but also the injured horses that have taken a mis-step or pushed themselves too far. As well as the horses with more requirements, such as the laminitic horse needing intense attention, and the post-colic surgery needing a plan on how to start back to work with an injury. All of these situations need special attention to allow these horses to thrive at the level of wellness or competition they deserve.
While I have been sitting tight with the technology aspect (don’t worry there are two more components in the works!), I have also been discovering products I can’t live without. In doing so I am holding true to my desire to steer away from the constant need for pharmaceuticals. Do not get me wrong, there is a time and a place for all. So today I am sharing the most amazing liniment I have come across in all my years of working on horses!
NATURAL RELEASE
This product has been a part of my arsenal for a little bit now. And has been part of the drive to open my store so I can offer it to all of my clients. Ingredients in this product making it effective are Dead Sea Magnesium, Arnica and Eucalyptus. There is not a heating sensation, there is no cooling sensation. Natural release can be used under wraps, under work boots. I am using it pre- and post-PEMF and Bemer sessions. Not only am I using it on horses, but I am using it on myself! As the name says, it is all natural, not oil-based or alcohol-based. Best uses (other than EVERYTHING) are fatigued muscles, strains, lower limb brace, and joint rub to reduce joint pain. It is fast-acting and can be used pre- or post-work as needed again with no issue, applying wraps over it. A gel and a spray are manufactured to make it more applicable for the entire body with less room for waste.
Let's talk about these ingredients.
Magnesium!
Did you know Epsom Salts are magnesium sulfate? Usage of magnesium sulfate in horses is for inflammation or better yet, drawing out inflammation. This is done in Epsom salt soaks for abscesses or Epsom salt poultices, you know the green goop we use to sweat legs or draw out pain in the hoof. Now don’t get me wrong, magnesium sulfate (Epsom Salt) and Dead Sea Magnesium are not the same! I am just using this to get my point across about magnesium. Dead Sea Magnesium has additional properties that magnesium sulfate does not as well as the fact that they are harvested from completely different situations.
Arnica!
Arnica. Is. Amazing! I actually didn’t realize how amazing until I had my son. So many uses! Including oral for pain relief! Having a two-year-old who was prescribed an opioid for post-surgical pain relief, I had to read on ALL kinds of better options. Topical arnica stimulates circulation to force the body into healing mode. By stimulating the flow of blood, white blood cells are then removed faster from the area. Reasons for topical applications of arnica include bruising, sprains, muscle soreness, and joint pain. In humans, there is research in the use of arnica in regards to swelling from a broken bone, treatment of burns, as well as relief from insect bites.
Eucalyptus!
Eucalyptus is used as a topical analgesic. But, take note! This product is not going to leave you smelling like a plant. Also, it is not a potent enough concentration to cause a warming or cooling sensation in the body once applied.
Human use for Natural Release:
Back spasming?
Kink in your neck?
Take a fall?
Get stepped on?
You name it I have used it for my every ache and pain.
I highly recommend this liniment becomes part of your routine! Ditch the chemicals that just warm or cool the area so we feel like they are being helpful. Grab some Natural Release and see as well as feel the magic I speak of for yourself!
